Smooth Agave (Agave demeesteriana, commonly sold as Agave desmettiana) forms rosettes with basal offsets. Each rosette dies after flowering. Supplied in a 3-inch nursery pot. General plant care Choose filtered sun or light, dappled shade and well-drained soil. Established landscape plants need only occasional watering; this does not establish a watering schedule for a small nursery pot. Toxicity and handling The leaves have sharp tips and may also have small spines along their margins. Handle with care. Sap from some agaves can irritate skin, so avoid sap contact when handling or pruning.
