Bellyache Bush
Jatropha gossypiifolia
Cold Hardiness & Thermal Guidance
Botanical Description
Flourishing in bright, warm environments, Jatropha gossypiifolia produces striking, deeply lobed foliage that often emerges with a deep burgundy or bronze hue before maturing to a rich green. Characterized by its unique glandular hairs and small, intricate crimson inflorescences, this specimen adds a distinct textural element to tropical collections. Our starters are grown in 4" nursery pots. With their deep ruby and contrasting green foliage they are always sure to be an eye catching show stopper. Light: Requires full sun to bright, indirect exposure to maintain optimal foliage colors and structural integrity. Water: Drought tolerant once established, ensure the soil is allowed to dry out completely between watering. Soil: The root system requires a chunky mix that is well-draining to prevent excess moisture and rot.
