Botanical Description

Flourishing in bright, warm environments, the Hippeastrum striatum (commonly known as the Barbados Lily) produces striking, trumpet-shaped coral-orange blooms featuring a distinct, pale green starburst throat. Unlike true Amaryllis, this tropical bulb often retains its lush, strap-like foliage during its blooming cycle, creating a vibrant and complete architectural display. Grown in 5" nursery pots, blooming size, and featuring a robust, well established bulb that is already producing offshoots. No matter if you repot it into a larger pot or directly into your landscape, they will multiply and provide pop of color and frequent blooms throughout the growing season. Light: Requires full sun to bright, indirect exposure to encourage prolific, vivid flowering. Water: Moderately drought tolerant once established. Water regularly during active growth and blooming, but allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. Soil: Well-draining medium that prevents excess moisture retention and protects the fleshy bulb from rot.
