Bird's Nest Snake Plant (Dracaena trifasciata, also known as Sansevieria trifasciata) forms a compact rosette of green leaves with pale horizontal banding. Supplied in a 4-inch nursery pot. Its appearance is consistent with a green Hahnii type; Hahnii Green remains the nursery label rather than a verified clone. General plant care Place it in bright light, protected from strong summer sun. Use a freely draining potting mix and let the mix dry before watering again. Empty the saucer after watering and water less as growth slows in winter. This follows general snake-plant care. Toxicity Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested; reported effects include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Keep the plant out of their reach. Dracaena trifasciata is harmful if eaten. NC State classifies the species as having low-severity poison characteristics, and RHS also warns that it is harmful if eaten. Keep it out of reach of children and do not consume the plant. Burle Marx Philodendron (Philodendron burle-marxii) is a tropical aroid with glossy, elongated green foliage and a compact appearance when young. As it develops, the species grows as a climbing or vining philodendron and can be given support as its stems lengthen. General plant care Provide bright, indirect light to partial shade. Water when the upper portion of the potting medium begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain freely. For container culture, use a loose, well-draining aroid-style potting medium that retains some moisture while maintaining air around the roots. Keep the plant warm and protected from cold temperatures. Toxicity Philodendrons contain calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing or ingesting plant material may cause oral irritation, pain, swelling, drooling or vomiting in people and pets. Sap may also irritate skin and eyes. Keep the plant out of reach of children and pets and use care when pruning. Veldt Grape (Cissus quadrangularis) is a perennial succulent climber in the grape family, Vitaceae. It develops distinctive jointed, four-angled fleshy stems, small lobed leaves, and tendrils that allow the plant to climb or trail. General plant care Grow in full sun to bright light in a gritty, fast-draining potting mix. Water moderately during active growth, allowing the mix to dry substantially between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler or slower-growing periods. Outdoors, Veldt Grape is best suited to warm, frost-free climates. For this listing, it is classified for USDA Hardiness Zones 10a–11b. Container-grown plants should be protected from cold and frost. Growth habit Cissus quadrangularis is a climbing or sprawling succulent vine. Its thick, segmented stems store water and produce tendrils and small leaves from the nodes. Plants may be allowed to trail or can be trained onto a support. Traditional and ethnobotanical use Cissus quadrangularis has a long history of use in traditional medicine, particularly in India, where it is commonly known as Hadjod or Asthisamharaka. It has been especially associated with traditional practices involving broken bones and other bone-related complaints. Historical and ethnobotanical accounts describe the fleshy stems being crushed or ground into pastes for external application, while other traditional preparations used the stems or roots internally in powders, juices, decoctions, or other formulations. Traditional systems have also recorded uses associated with digestive complaints, hemorrhoids, wounds, joint discomfort, and several other conditions. These traditional uses are presented for historical and ethnobotanical context only. They should not be interpreted as medical advice or as evidence that the plant is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Pet safety Reliable species-specific veterinary guidance for Cissus quadrangularis is limited.
